ABOUT MS. BECKER
Hello! I’m Ms. Becker, and this is my 4th year at WCHS and my 6th year as a Teacher-Librarian.
I’m originally from the Chicago suburbs, and moved to Missouri in 2008 (after a three year adventure in Las Vegas, Nevada). I have previously taught 5th grade, as well as middle school special education (ELA), spent two years as an elementary Library Media Specialist, and have worked as an Instructional Designer for a major commercial refrigeration corporation in the St. Louis area.
I hold a B.S. in Communicative Disorders, a Post-Baccalaureate in Elementary Education, and two Masters degrees: a M.Ed. in Educational Technology, and a M.A. in Education focusing in Library Media. I am certified in K-12 Librarian and 1-6 Elementary Education.
I was named to the 2020 class of American Library Association (ALA) Emerging Leaders, and sponsored by the American Association of School Librarians (AASL). I've been a member of the Missouri Association of School Librarians (MASL) Gateway Readers Awards Committee, and have presented at local, regional, state, and national conferences.
I am the Co-Sponsor for the WCHS Epsilon Beta Library Club chapter, and assistant WCHS colorguard and winterguard instructor.
Outside of school, I play oboe with the St. Charles Community College Concert Band, and a member of Sigma Alpha Iota, International Music Fraternity, where I was PiB Province Officer for the area. I am also a merit badge counselor and Scrip Coordinator for my son's Boy Scout troop.
